More Individuals are Rolling Their Employee Retirement Account to IRAs
According to an article from planadvisor.com, a survey conducted by the Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI) revealed that about 2,000 rollovers annually are going to self-directed IRAs. In addition, EBRI revealed that IRA assets exploded in 2006 – a 16.5% increase over 2005 to a record $4.23 trillion. These statistics strengthened the notion that IRAs are now the largest repository of U.S. retirement funds. With the many benefits of self-directed IRAs, (tax-free/tax-deferred status and the ability to invest in what you want) these numbers are no surprise.
