Health
Northeast Ohio is home to one of the best healthcare systems in the country, including those ranked in the top 10 of 11 specialty areas. The Cleveland Clinic was recently ranked first in heart care by U.S. News and World Report. Along with the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland’s University Hospitals provide world-class medical care to greater Cleveland residents. Other health centers around the area, such as Akron General and the Akron Children’s hospital, also provide expert care. No matter where you are in the region, you have access to some of the best health care facilities in the nation.
Recreation
If you’re looking for fun, culture, and endless opportunities for entertainment, Northeast Ohio is your perfect place to play.
The Arts and Entertainment: Cleveland is home to endless cultural experiences for residents and tourists alike, such as Severance Hall, home to the Cleveland Orchestra, The Cleveland Museum of Art, and The Museum of Natural History. If you are looking for a little more excitement, head to a Broadway show at PlayhouseSquare, the second largest theater district in the country or visit African animals at the Cleveland Zoo and Rainforest. The Great Lakes Science Center, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and the Rock and Roll Hall of fame will also help suit your curiosity and quench you thirst for fun. And do not worry about concerts and music – with the House of Blues, Blossom Music Center, and Quicken Loans arena hosting national and regional headliners, you’ll always have the chance to see some great shows.
Sports and Recreation: If you are more into adventure, sports and the outdoors…do not worry because you will not have to go far. Cleveland is home to numerous professional sports teams: The Cleveland Browns, the Cleveland Cavaliers (including LeBron James), and the Cleveland Indians. The region is also home to minor league teams such as the Lake County Captains, Lake Erie Crushers, and the Akron Aeros as well as an arena football team and a hockey team, the Cleveland Gladiators and the Lake Erie Monsters. Should racing be more your interest, or even if you’ve never been to a race before, visit the Northfield and Thistledown race tracks for an exciting experience.
If you want to get into the action yourself, check out the area’s 19,000 acres of park, including 14 MetroParks, 275 miles of bike paths, the 300 golf courses, and the ski action at either Alpine Valley Ski Resort or Brandywine/Boston Mills Ski Resort. With Lake Erie and the Chagrin, Rocky and Cuyahoga rivers nearby, the greater Cleveland area is also a prime spot for fishing, boating, swimming, canoeing, and kayaking. Finally, if you call yourself a ride warrior, make sure you check out Cedar Point Amusement park, home to the most roller coasters anywhere on earth and conveniently located only about 1.5 hours from Cleveland in Sandusky, Ohio.
