Equity Trust Clients Featured in New York Times Article About Exotic IRAs

Brian Harris Uses his Self-Directed IRA to Invest in Musical Instruments; Neil Paulson Invests in Mortgages and Homes

Brian Harris and Neil Paulson, Equity Trust Clients, were recently featured in the Oct. 20th New York Times article, Exotic I.R.A.’s: Leaving Stocks and Bonds Behind. Both were featured for their successful investing experience with self-directed IRAs. Mr. Harris buys instruments for less than $1,000 each. He then rents them to his students for up to $60 a month. The rental income returns to his IRA to benefit from tax advantages. Mr. Paulson invests in mortgages and rents homes from his Equity Trust account.

Jeff Desich, Vice President of Equity Trust Company, was also quoted in the article about the increasing number of Americans investing in non-traditional assets and not just stocks and bonds. If you would like to read the article, please click here
