How long does it take to make an investment?

From the time the request is received from the client, the time to process most investments is approximately three (3) business days.

What are the most common things that can delay an investment?

By far the most common investment delay is if clients do not title their investment correctly. Clients must ensure that investments which are to be purchased on behalf of their IRA have the correct title/ownership. The correct title should read as follows: Equity Trust Company Custodian FBO (Your Name) IRA.

Why do investments have to be titled this way?

All retirement investments must be made this way. It is important to remember that you and your IRA are not one and the same. Your IRA is making an investment, not you personally; and, as such, you must title the investment this particular way.

Does Equity Trust have expedited service feature available?

If necessary, clients can choose to have their investments enacted with expedited service for $50.00. Note: For same day service, clients must have all forms for the investment to our offices no later than 10:00 AM EST.

Can Equity Trust wire funds for an investment?

Can Equity Trust recommend any investments for my retirement account?

No. As a passive custodian, Equity Trust cannot recommend any investment, investment product, or investment strategy. Because of our passive nature, Equity Trust does not provide investment, legal, tax or accounting advice. We believe our clients are the best stewards of their investment assets.

Once you have established an online personal identification number, you can check the status of your investments (or your account in general) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
