- About Us
Equity Trust Founder, Richard Desich Sr., grew up just a few miles from the company’s headquarters in Westlake, OH. He has never forgotten where he came from, or the hard work that got him where he is today. Richard and his family have dedicated their time and resources to fostering change in the community, focusing on education and youth-related causes.
The Desich family has built a culture of giving back, and encourages Equity Trust associates to serve the community. Inspired by the Desich family’s passion for philanthropy, associates created the GIVE committee which coordinates community events supporting various causes throughout the year, including Susan G. Komen and the Boys & Girls Clubs.
To support making a difference in our community, each associate is offered time off to volunteer for a cause they are passionate about.
Richard A. Desich, Jr. serves on the Board of Directors for the Lorain County Boys and Girls Club. Equity Trust employees hold an annual food drive and toy drive each December for the Oakwood Boys & Girls club. To further the reach of the Lorain Boys & Girls Club, the Desich family donated the land to create the regional campus, known as the Desich campus, which serves more than 8,000 kids each week.
Richard Desich Sr.’s philanthropic gifts have led to the establishment of the Desich Business and Entrepreneurship Building and the Richard Desich SMART Commercialization Center for Microsystems. Jeff Desich serves on the board and on the college’s Scholarship Golf Benefit Committee.
Equity Trust funded an endowment totaling $1 million to create the Desich Family Community Impact Scholarship, which benefits 20 community-minded students each year.
Equity Trust associates and company raise more than $20,000 annually through fundraising activities for Susan G. Komen Northeast Ohio.
Associate-led donations and food drives help to support the City of Westlake Senior and Community Services Department.
Associates volunteer on an ongoing basis to support the Ohio Department of Transportation Adopt-A-Highway program.
Through our partnership with local animal shelters, Equity Trust sponsors the annual Adopt & Shop event which draws hundreds of attendees, and results in 50+ adoptions during the event.
